I went to some museums recently and it got me thinking about art, and then I wanted to see if I could make interesting icons from art that aren't just mini versions of the paintings themselves. Van Gogh's paintings have a lot of great paint strokes and other little details that maybe get overlooked if you're just looking at one big image of the entire painting. I wanted to zoom in on close-up details and highlight those things, as best I could with a 100px surface.

To finish a work? To finish a picture? What nonsense! To finish it means to be through with it, to kill it, to rid it of its soul, to give it its final blow the coup de grace for the painter as well as for the picture. )
