I went to some museums recently and it got me thinking about art, and then I wanted to see if I could make interesting icons from art that aren't just mini versions of the paintings themselves. Van Gogh's paintings have a lot of great paint strokes and other little details that maybe get overlooked if you're just looking at one big image of the entire painting. I wanted to zoom in on close-up details and highlight those things, as best I could with a 100px surface.

Date: 2025-04-26 04:56 pm (UTC)Just made a DW account the other day and spent probably waaaay too long looking through Ghibli screenshots trying to get an icon that gave the right Vibes, and all these icons are capturing exactly that somehow! Something about how Van Gogh paints light on landscapes, I think.
Anyway, these are all gorgeous! ♥ I think 11 is my fave (I mean, look at my current icon! Am I exaggerating or is it really close??) but yeah, thank u for sharing!!
P.S. For a DW n00b, does credit mean adding a comment to the icon when we upload it or should I shout it out somewhere else too?

Date: 2025-04-26 05:11 pm (UTC)Yes!! I can definitely see the connection.
And yes, just stick either my username or the comm's name in the Comment field when you upload the icon. If you look at my uploaded icons you can see how I did it. :D Welcome to Dreamwidth, btw!
